THREE GENERATIONS
. A SINGLE PASSION

Our firm was founded in 1920 by Giovanni MAINERDO, who - inspired by his great
passion for wine - began to make small amounts from grapes grown in certain particularly
highly prized areas in the villages of Neive and Barbaresco.
Today,
more than eighty years later, as well as the grapes grown on the vineyards on
their own estate (35 acres), the Mainerdo wine cellar still uses grapes grown
by the children and grandchildren of these small growers - who have continued
through generations for more than half a century to allocate their top quality
produce to the winery - in the fermentation and blending of their wines.
The
wine-making process is based on two main precepts: constant experimentation with
new techniques while keeping faith with tradition, and maceration of the grapes
at a controlled temperature in steel vats and oak.
The wines are matured in casks and barrels of varying capacity made from French
and Slavonian oak in order to allow for the most appropriate evolution of all
the different types of wine.
Our objective is to produce wines with a well defined personality making their
origins unmistakable.
The technical and marketing sides of the business are now handled by Giovanni's
children and grandchildren, who are committed to the development and consolidation
of his original production philosophy.
